Life after College.

December is the here and we all have been looking forward to graduation day. The long hours in

the library, projects, and lectures all the long nights is finally paying off. But once the

excitement of graduating fades, you may find yourself wondering “Now what?”

This is the question that haunts every student to some degree or another. One has to face the

reality world and things do not always go according to plan. The best solution is not to be hard

on yourself.

Don’t Compare yourself to your Peers.

Ecclesiastes 3 vs 1-9 says there is a time for everything. Everyone has a different time zone.

Some of your classmates may seem to have it figured it out just after graduation and when you

look on yourself nothing seem to be moving. You feel like you slacking, not serious with life. It

is normal to feel that way, but what is important is not to compare yourself. It destroys your

mood, and it’s unhealthy for your mental health. Everyone is on a journey and the path is

different. Embrace each day as it comes.

Expand your Network.

“Your network is your net worth” This is an adage we hear often, that we need to ponder on.

After graduation, the transition into the real world can be a daunting period. The best thing after

graduation is to expand your network. This means connecting with professionals in your field of

interest, updating your LinkedIn profile, attending events and seminars. These days’ people are

meeting their potential employers at informal events. A strong network, will help to make

connections, learn new opportunities and advance your career.

Rejections are Part of Life.

After graduation, most graduates will be job hunting trying to explore the business world. It will

be a competition with the previous graduates and most companies are downsizing especially

during this Covid-19 pandemic. You will be sending out job emails, going for interviews and

hoping for the best. The reality is that rejections and disappointments will be part of the journey.

There is so much pressure and the setbacks leave you questioning the value of all you have

achieved. The rejections are just there to redirect us, to work on our cvs, or to gain a new skills.

The life after graduation need one to be patient with themselves and when the feeling is too

much always take out and breath, this can mean going off social media and other platforms t

recharge your energy.
