From March 8^th to March 13^th, 2015, the Associate Dean Jinsoo Lee along with the Head of the External Relations and Development Division Ms. Hye Jung Yang visited Europe in order to take part in the GLiMPSE Seminar for Korea-EU cooperative education. This year’s seminar was hosted by KU Leuven in Belgium and the rest of the partner schools (ESSEC Business School in France, Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies, and the KDI School of Public Policy and Management) participated the seminar not only to maximize cooperation in higher education in Korea and Europe but also to promote schools to their partners.

On the 9^th of March, academics from all four partner schools participated in a seminar titled “Development, Governance and Gender.” They talked about issues such as enhancing women’s rights, Korea’s economic development experiences, and development and governance from other regions. After the seminar, the alumni in Belgium gathered up to share each other’s news.

When the KDI School faculty toured the ESSEC Business School Campus, they were impressed by the environment and its proximity to Paris. Due to recent renovations, several more buildings have been added to the campus to accommodate more students. The campus is also close to a harbor, making it a beautiful and enriching place to live and study. The KU Leuven Campus is the core of the city, with most its buildings holding various historical records. The naming of the campus buildings portrays much meaning and storytelling of the schools vision.   

The following statement from Simon Robinson, a student from the KU Leuven, who is currently studying at the KDI School, further describes the advantages of this program to European students.

“My experience here at the KDI School as the inaugural GLiMPSE scholar has been overwhelmingly positive. The KDI School has a wonderfully diverse student body, with many of my classmates working as government officials back home, allowing them to offer valuable insight into the challenges they face as policy makers. My Professors have extensive experience working in major organizations such as the UN and the World Bank, and can complement our theoretical analysis with practical knowledge learnt in the field. The KDI School has given me the chance to study a field that is both complimentary and distinct to my studies in Europe, and I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone considering applying to come to Korea and make the most of all that the GLiMPSE program has to offer.”
