Appointed as Sejong Friends to Promote the City to the World!

On February 16th, Sejong City announced the appointment of 15 members of the 2nd global public relations group, Sejong Friends, at the Book Culture Center in Sejong City Hall. The Sejong Friends team was selected through open recruitment among foreigners residing or staying in Korea who are interested in Sejong City and are active on social media.

Fifteen foreigners, including 6 students of KDI School, from 14 countries around the world, including the Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Ghana, Jordan, and Georgia, will work as a foreign public relations team for one year. Every month, they will promote Sejong City with various contents that make use of their individuality, such as their reviews of tourist attractions in Sejong City, their reviews of public facilities, and their exceptional takes on city life as international residents, on social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

The city is planning various projects in collaboration with Sejong Friends. The team is planning a promotional tour to introduce attractive places hidden throughout the region from a foreigner's perspective. They will also be invited to events and festivals organized by the city.

At the appointment ceremony, the Sejong Friends team was awarded a letter of appointment. Sejong Mayor Mr. Choi Min-ho also participated in the ceremony and gave a speech, emphasizing the importance of Sejong City's global presence. As Sejong City is about to host various international events such as the 2023 International Student Cyber Security Contest, the 2025 International Garden City Fair, and the 2027 Summer World University Games, Mayor Choi Min-ho expects that many international visitors will visit the city. He encouraged the Sejong Friends team to produce creative content from a perspective and actively promote it.

Among the appointed Sejong Friends, there were two students from KDI School of Public Policy and Management. Nofianto Anto, from Indonesia, and Mohamed Abdikarim Abdullahithe, from Somalia, are both enrolled in KDI School's Master's Program in Public Policy. They expressed their excitement for being appointed as Sejong Friends and their commitment to promoting Sejong City to the world.

Nofianto Anto said, "As a student of KDI School, I have learned a lot about the importance of public policy in the development of a country. Sejong City is an excellent example of how public policy can transform a city. I am thrilled to be a part of the Sejong Friends team and to promote Sejong City's unique features and attractions to the world."

Mohamed Abdikarim Abdullahithe added, "I am honored to be appointed as a Sejong Friend. As a student from Somalia, I am excited to explore Sejong City and share my experiences with the world. Sejong City's commitment to sustainable development and creating a smart city is admirable, and I am excited to promote it to the world."

KDI School is a global graduate school in Korea focused on public policy and management. It has been training leaders who have contributed to the development of their countries for over 20 years.
