It was at Yongin Korean Folk Village that Nurdalila, also known as Dilla from Malaysia, had the opportunity to try her very first Hanbok. With the assistance of her friend Por from Thailand, she selected a vibrant pink Hanbok that suited her hijab color. The Hanbok made her appear beautiful and graceful, as if she were a character in a 사극 (Sageuk).

According to Dilla, Hanbok is significantly different from Malaysia's traditional clothing. The female Baju Kurung comes in a variety of fabrics, colors, and patterns and typically consists of a two-piece outfit with a top that covers the hips and falls below the knee, along with a straight-cut skirt with pleats. In contrast to the Hanbok, the Baju Kurung can be worn daily, not solely on special occasions.

Nevertheless, wearing the Hanbok was an unforgettable experience for Dilla. She was determined to try it out so she could fully appreciate the autumn atmosphere and admire the beauty of the fall foliage. Dilla found herself walking more gracefully when she wore the Hanbok. She felt the grace and elegance of a princess as the wind playfully blew through the fabric of her Hanbok and the autumn leaves gently fell around her.

Although the Hanbok she wore was already modernized with fast straps and hooks, Dilla learned that in the old days, assistance was required to put on the Hanbok. This is why it is typically worn only during special occasions, making it a delicate piece of art that is primarily seen during festive seasons. For Dilla, the skirt was the best feature of the Hanbok because it held the main color of the entire ensemble. The Hanbok is unique to her as it exudes both elegance and modesty simultaneously.

Congratulations to Dilla for winning the KDI School Hanbok Contest. The Hanbok experience is truly one of the best experiences you can have while in Korea.
