It is the time of the year! KDI School of Public Policy and Management recently hosted its Open House - a long-awaited event aimed at introducing prospective students to both the academic environment and student life at KDIS. The event was designed for those considering applying next year and seeking a deeper understanding of KDI School’s programs, values, and overall atmosphere.

The day began with welcoming guests to campus and guiding them through the initial orientation. From the very start, a warm and lively atmosphere could be felt: participants were actively engaging with each other, sharing their expectations, and asking their first questions.
The official program opened with an introductory speech by the Head of the Admissions Division of KDI School, Lim Keun-Hyuk, who welcomed our guests and highlighted the graduate school’s mission and core values. This was followed by a speech from the Dean of KDI School, Kim Joon-Kyung, who emphasized the importance of international cooperation, academic excellence, and the role students play in addressing global challenges. His remarks set the tone for the entire event and helped participants better understand the KDI School’s broader vision.
Next came a detailed presentation of academic programs, delivered by Professor Lee Junesoo. The session provided a comprehensive overview of the available programs of study and their different formats. Special attention was given to the differences between full-time and part-time options, as well as opportunities to study in both Korean and English. This allowed participants to gain a clearer picture of program structures, duration, and academic expectations, helping them navigate their choices more confidently.

One of the most engaging parts of the event was the alumni session. It has been our pleasure to welcome back KDIS alumni – Lim Sara (2020, MDP), Jo Ingyung (2022, MPPM), and Kwon Seunghyun (2016, MDP). Alumni shared their individual experiences, spoke about career opportunities after completing their studies, and reflected on how their education at KDI School shaped their professional paths. These real-life stories resonated strongly with the audience and offered valuable insight into life after graduation.

Following the main session, participants were divided into smaller groups based on their academic interests. Each group met with a faculty member, creating a more informal setting where attendees could ask questions, discuss specific programs, and receive personalized advice. This format made the interaction more meaningful and tailored to individual needs.

And what can serve as a better opportunity for networking if not buffet lunch? Participants continued their conversations with faculty, staff, and fellow attendees, exchanging impressions and building new connections, while cozily enjoying lunch together!
In the afternoon, participants joined a guided campus tour, where they explored classrooms, the KDI School’s award-winning library, common areas, and other key facilities. This allowed them to truly experience what everyday student life feels like and soak in the campus atmosphere.
The program concluded with open demonstration lectures, allowing participants to experience the teaching style, academic rigor, and classroom dynamics firsthand.
Overall, the Open House was both informative and engaging, offering prospective students a well-rounded introduction to KDI School. Beyond answering practical questions, the event helped attendees feel connected to the academic community even before officially beginning their journey.
