Prof. Yeong Jae Kim has been appointed to the Editorial Council of Environmental Economics and Policy Studies (EEPS), a leading international journal in environmental economics published by Springer Nature.
The appointment reflects international recognition of Prof. Kim's scholarly achievements and global research leadership in the fields of environmental and energy economics. It is particularly significant in that he will take on a key role in shaping the academic direction of a prominent international journal.
Environmental Economics and Policy Studies, published by Springer Nature, is a premier academic journal in environmental economics that has been at the forefront of international discourse on environmental economics and policy research since its founding in 1998. As the official journal of the Society for Environmental Economics and Policy Studies (SEEPS) and the Asian Association of Environmental and Resource Economics (AAERE), it covers a broad range of critical topics, including interdisciplinary research that integrates theory and policy in environmental economics, as well as future-oriented agendas such as climate change, energy transition, carbon neutrality, green finance, and sustainable development.
The Editorial Council plays a central role in setting the journal's academic direction, planning key research themes, and ensuring the scholarly quality and international impact of published work. The Council is composed of distinguished scholars from world-renowned institutions, including Harvard University (Robert N. Stavins), the University of Oxford (Frederick van der Ploeg), Johns Hopkins University (Matthew E. Kahn), the University of Tokyo, Peking University, the National University of Singapore, and the Australian National University, among others. Notably, the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan is represented by two faculty members on the Council. Prof. Kim's appointment alongside these globally recognized scholars underscores the international standing of KDI School's research capabilities in environmental and energy policy.
With this appointment, Prof. Kim is expected to play an important role in shaping the trajectory of global environmental economics research and charting future research directions. At the same time, the international standing of environmental and energy policy research in Korea is expected to be further strengthened.
