Each year, KDI School students visit industry-leading companies in Korea and abroad. These trips provide the students with an invaluable opportunity to experience the diversity of these enterprises first-hand and learn their successful strategies and business know-how.

International Field Research & Study

From August 20 to 29, the KDI School hosted its annual International Field Research & Study (IFRS) in which Professor Wook Sohn accompanied a group of 27 students to the United States. The IFRS aims to provide unique opportunities to see businesses and government in action, so that students can directly interact with the sector leaders and learn the best practices and strategies from them. Students were able to participate in special lectures covering a wide range of economic issues. They also visited renowned firms such as Hynix Semiconductor America and Qualcomm. The IFRS also allowed time for a tour of the Grand Canyon and an exciting baseball match between the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies.

Korea Field Research & Study

From September 8 to 11, the Korea Field Research & Study (KFRS) was held to educate the KDI School’s international students on the unique social, cultural and industrial aspects of Korea. Accompanied by Dean Sang-Moon Hahm, Professor Tae-Jong Kim, Professor Kun-Ho Lee, and Professor Jin-Soo Lee, 50 international students participated in the field study. Throughout the trip, students visited industry-leading companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industry, Hyundai Motors Company, POSCO Pohang Iron & Steel Company, and LG Electronics. They also visited key historic and cultural sites in Gyeongju which prides itself on its 1000-year Shilla heritage and its ancient ruins and archaeological sites.
