Professors at KDIS Top the Social Science Research Network Rankings

The Social Science Research Network (SSRN), a worldwide database devoted to the dissemination of scholarly research in the social sciences and humanities, has proudly ranked three professors from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management among the authors of their top ten most popular research papers. According to recently released information from the SSRN, three research papers by Professor Kim Woochan, Lee Seung-Joo, and Chang Yu-sang were nominated as among the top ten downloads from the Economics Research Network (ERN) of Public Policy Centers’ Research Papers.

Professor Kim Woochan’s paper, Does Corporate Governance Predict Firms’ Market Values? Evidence from Korea, had a total of 6,773 downloads over the last ten years and was ranked second in the respective field. With more than 23 thousand scholarly research papers from all fields, Professor Kim’s research was ranked 94th overall and this achievement is within the top 0.04%. In the individual rankings, Professor Kim was ranked 379th overall and 233rd in the business field out of a total of 112,190 scholars. Professor Kim is ranked the highest among all Korean scholars.

Professor Lee Seung-Joo’s paper, Case Study of Samsung’s Mobile Phone Business, had a total of 1,702 downloads and was ranked seventh in the field.

Professor Chang Yu-sang’s paper, Making Strategic Short-Term Cost Estimation by Annualized Experience Curve, which discusses the major obstacles of using experience curves and develops an alternative concept of the annualized experience curve, was ranked tenth.

This is a major achievement for the KDI School, which has a total of 105 different papers by 29 different authors uploaded in the SSRN database. Just in the last 12 months, 11 new papers have been uploaded, ranking KDI School in the top spot in domestic rankings and 82nd in world rankings with a total of 5,243 downloads.

SSRN is viewed as particularly strong in the fields of economics, finance, accounting, management, and law. Since its foundation in 1994, SSRN has grown in importance in the worldwide academic community among professors and researchers in the respective fields.
