With the relaxing of Covid-19 safety precautions throughout Korea, the table tennis room located on the first floor was again open to students in fall 2022, thus creating an opportunity for the KDIS table tennis club. In particular, the club seeks to provide a platform that allows students of different nationalities and backgrounds to learn, play, and enjoy table tennis.
Table tennis, also known as ping-pong, is a racket sport that evolved from lawn tennis. Its playing surface is situated on a stationary table as opposed to a court, where players stand. Using small rackets, two players alternately return a light, hollow ball over the table's net and onto the opposing half of the court. If they fail to do so, their opponent scores a point. Rapid reflexes and continual attention to the ball's trajectory are necessary due to the quick and complex nature of the game. It is played indoors and is popular around the world among players of all skill levels and ages as a regular recreational activity.
The club plans to host a tournament every semester, enabling players and fans to enjoy social engagements away from the hustle and seriousness of academic tasks. Come join the club every Monday and Thursday at 6:00 p.m. for some great exercise to stay fit and have hearty laughs! Everyone and anyone are always welcome. Happiness is sometimes just the sound of a ping-pong ball!
