Hello, my name is Marina Al-Billeh, and I am from Jordan. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Public Policy (MPP) as part of the 2022 cohort. My undergraduate degree focused on foreign languages, specifically Spanish and English. Before joining KDI School, I worked as a Facility Administrator in the PR & Facility Department of Attarat Power Company. I find great satisfaction in my role as an ambassador and thoroughly enjoy the work. When I discovered the opportunity to join the Ambassador team, I was extremely enthusiastic and wasted no time in applying. One of the requirements was to provide the PR department with photographs, which was perfect for me as I have a passion for photography. It was an excellent chance for me to showcase my talent while engaging in something I truly enjoy. I had no doubts about being rejected during that time. I consider myself fortunate to have been accepted as an Ambassador for KDIS. One of the main reasons behind my decision to become an ambassador was my desire to enhance my socialization and communication skills, which I have always been interested in and continue to prioritize.
In the beginning, balancing my responsibilities as a student, an Ambassador, working as a CA, and an Ambassador for Sejong Friends (promoting Sejong City using social media) was quite challenging. Additionally, I am currently part of the curation team for Tedxtalks. It was an incredibly stressful period, but with time, I learned to manage my commitments effectively. I dedicated my evenings to my ambassador duties, studied after midnight, and utilized weekends to fulfill my responsibilities with Sejong Friends. Those around me know me as someone who is always busy and a night owl due to my late-night study sessions in the library. Despite the demanding schedule, I genuinely enjoy being an Ambassador and engaging with students to learn more about their unique stories, capturing their special smiles, and their poses in their photos. What keeps me motivated is that I approach my work in a way that never bores or tires me because I am pursuing what I truly love.
During my free time, I prioritize staying connected with my loved ones, particularly my family, by engaging in regular conversations with them. Their presence and support are incredibly important to me, so I make it a point to connect with them every day. Also, I enjoy engaging in various activities that help me relax and pursue my interests. I find it important to maintain a balanced lifestyle, so I try to allocate time for different types of activities. In terms of extracurricular activities, I am an active member of both the Ultimate Frisbee club and the Soccer team club. I thoroughly enjoy playing with these teams, and whenever there are training sessions, I eagerly join in. Engaging in sports not only helps me stay physically active but also allows me to bond with teammates and develop my skills in a fun and competitive environment.
When I have additional free time available, I like to incorporate workouts into my routine. Given that weekdays can be quite busy, dedicating time for exercise is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It provides me with a refreshing break and allows me to recharge both physically and mentally. Apart from club activities, I also enjoy exploring the local area and discovering new places in Korea. Whether it's trying out local cuisines, visiting historical landmarks, or experiencing cultural events, I find immense joy in immersing myself in the vibrant culture of Korea. Additionally, I value personal growth and learning, so I often dedicate time to read books and participate in online courses related to my field of study. This helps me stay updated with current trends and developments in my area of interest.
Overall, I believe in making the most of my free time by engaging in activities that bring me joy, allow me to connect with others, and contribute to my personal and professional growth.
Being an Ambassador has been and continues to be one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. To those considering applying for the next semester, I highly recommend becoming an Ambassador if you have a passion for writing, photography, suggesting innovative PR event ideas, and socializing with fellow students. Don't hesitate to take the opportunity and apply. To all students, make the most of your time at KDI School and in Korea. Join KDI School's clubs, dedicate weekdays to studying, and take a break on the weekends to explore the breathtaking places outside. Korea is a beautiful country with countless activities to enjoy. Make an effort to connect with people from different backgrounds, find your group of friends, and create unforgettable moments together. Cherish these memories and share them with your loved ones. I am grateful to be a part of KDIS and thankful for the incredible individuals I have met here. They have made the KDIS experience easier for all of us who are far from our families and loved ones. Thank you, KDIS, for providing me with this incredible opportunity. I will deeply miss every small aspect of my time here. The memories I have made are truly unforgettable.
