Hello everyone! I am Kaushal, and I am delighted to introduce myself as a member of the KDIS MIPD cohort for 2023. I am deeply passionate about encouraging individuals in the field of intellectual property rights (IPR), with a strong focus on supporting their inventions and human intelligence. I have provided comprehensive guidance on innovative ideas worldwide through various intergovernmental support programs. I hold a significant role in advancing the development phase in India through my support for "Atma Nirbhar Bharat" and Skill Development Initiatives.

What motivated your choice of KDI School for your studies?

I chose KDIS, a renowned policy institution in South Korea, due to its successful economic development and innovative policy initiatives. This environment allows me to conduct research, observe, and learn from real policy challenges and solutions in the fields of IP public policy and professional development. KDI has provided me with access to a wide range of resources, labs, training opportunities, and enlightening programs in public policy and development. I've learned a great deal and gained valuable experiences during my academic journey here at KDIS's International Public Policy and Management Institute.

As an aspiring specialist in Development Studies, the institute has covered a broad spectrum of subjects, including economics, public policy, governance, sustainable development, and more. With my collaborative research and technology diffusion, I aim to promote a more diverse culture of climate-friendly technologies, contributing positively to global development. KDIS's strong connections attract individuals from various countries, governmental institutions, and international organizations, fostering a global network for sharing effective ideas in the fields of intellectual property, development, policy, economics, energy technologies, and sustainable development.

How have your experiences in India shaped your perspective on development issues, and how do you plan to apply this perspective to your studies and projects at KDIS?

I have managed an intellectual property development awareness program in rural and urban areas of India, using strategic planning to address grassroots and urban-centric development. My experiences in India have equipped me with a strong belief and exposure to diverse approaches, including social, cultural, and economic development challenges. This experience will be invaluable in formulating evidence-based solutions and context-specific policies in research studies and projects that deal with complexity.

The importance of cooperation:

In a diverse country like India, collaboration and cooperation among different stakeholders are essential for the success of development initiatives. Understanding the importance of partnerships will be helpful in advancing collaborative efforts at KDIS, where students come from various countries and backgrounds. India's journey toward sustainable development emphasizes environmental and social sustainability, a view that aligns with KDIS's focus on sustainability in policies and projects.

Regarding favorite experiences and activities in Korea: I thoroughly enjoy traveling, and South Korea, with its rich traditions, natural beauty, parks, and vibrant urban areas, offers a plethora of exciting experiences. Exploring modern cities can be challenging, but it's also rewarding to embrace their mix of tradition, temples, shrines, bustling markets, and vibrant neighborhoods for contemplation and meditation.

One of the most captivating experiences has been the vibrant cherry blossom festivals that symbolize peace, hope, and love throughout the Korean peninsula. These festivals, along with various other cultural events, have left a lasting impression on me.

I am deeply passionate about traveling and embark on my journeys with an unwavering zeal to discover the perfect balance and meaningful insights from each experience. I find great excitement in exploring festivals, hopping between cities, and carefully interpreting the true essence of different provinces. It's an opportunity to understand the cultural impact and how these events contribute to the annual themes, ultimately benefiting their development.

Another exhilarating aspect of my time in South Korea is experiencing the world of K-Pop and Korean entertainment, which has gained international popularity. Witnessing live performances and exploring entertainment company cafés have been truly unbelievable experiences, resonating with the optimistic outlook I hold in my life.

Additionally, my passion for sports and extracurricular activities remains a significant part of my daily routine. I'm deeply committed to engaging in various popular and enjoyable activities such as cycling, running, swimming, soccer, hiking, and Frisbee.

Moreover, beyond my physical pursuits, I have a profound appreciation for cultural exploration. I enjoy delving into the rich cultural heritage of South Korea, exploring traditional places and historic sites that reflect the legacies of the Shilla dynasties. These places reveal the significant contributions to Korea's development and its continued shaping of the country's cultural identity. Participating in activities like Hanji craft-making and Hanbok photoshoots in traditional Korean attire at the Seoul fiesta has been both fun and memorable.

My love for hiking in national parks and mountains is a passion that will never wane. Korea offers abundant opportunities to explore scenic national parks and indulge in the serenity of nature, with the soothing sounds of lakes and forests. Prioritizing my health has been a cornerstone of my life, and these outdoor adventures not only bolster my well-being but also serve as a source of strength and inspiration.

And what about food?

Well, when it comes to food, I enthusiastically say yes with a smile. While I appreciate various cuisines, Korean cuisine holds a special place in my heart. Its delectable flavors, diverse dishes, and unique culinary traditions, such as Kimchi, Bibimbap, Korean BBQ, and many others, never fail to excite my taste buds. I consider myself a food connoisseur, always eager to explore and learn more about different food cultures and trends.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our community?

I can offer insights from a diverse perspective that encompass a wide array of cultures. I believe in peaceful ways of transcending in life and cherish the vibrant heritage that continually bestows blessings, refreshing me with joy and resilience. Embracing diversity through languages, traditions, religions, and cultural practices fosters a spirit of inclusivity, mutual respect, and openness to different opinions on a global scale.

Throughout my journey, I have consistently believed in the harmonious balance between the present and the past, which I consider vital for balanced growth and positive learning in life. I adhere to happy living principles that are well-grounded and aligned with a variety of multidimensional views.

I firmly believe that a holistic approach is essential for addressing multidimensional challenges and developing sustainable policy solutions. The paradigm shift associated with integrating innovative ideas and technology into policy design and implementation can significantly enhance development outcomes.

One valuable lesson I've learned from my time at KDIS is the importance of participatory discussions in the forum. These discussions involve real-time simulations of the policy formulation process and promote positive change in more effective and inclusive ways. They place a greater emphasis on sustainable practices, highlighting the significance of considering environmental sustainability in development initiatives.
