Highlighting the critical role of research in shaping effective policies, the KDI School ASEAN Forum, Writing Center and Voice of KDIS recently hosted “ASEAN Focus: Bridging Perspectives for Regional Policy Insights” on July 15, 2024. Designed to give KDI School students a platform to present their research on ASEAN-related policies, the event fostered an enriching exchange of ideas and diverse viewpoints on the policy challenges facing the ASEAN region.
Representatives from various ASEAN countries, along with students from non-ASEAN nations who focused their research on ASEAN policies, delivered insightful presentations. These students had previously participated in a mandatory workshop designed to enhance their presentation skills, ensuring that the quality of the presentations was top-notch.
Each presenter had a structured 10-minute slot to cover four critical elements of their research: an Introduction, an outline of their Research Method and Design, a summary of their Findings, and their Conclusions and Recommendations. Following this, a 5-minute feedback session allowed faculty members and peers to provide detailed critiques and ask probing questions. This interactive approach, characterized by in-depth discussions and rigorous Q&A sessions, fostered a stimulating environment. The constructive criticism and diverse viewpoints shared during these sessions helped deepen the presenters' insights and refine their research, making the learning experience both comprehensive and beneficial.
