Engagement in eco-friendly campus initiatives stems from a profound sense of responsibility towards the environment. Recognizing our actions' potential impact, we're driven by the belief that every small choice contributes to our planet's preservation. Our campus mirrors a microcosm of sustainability practices, where daily actions, from minimizing delivery food to embracing reusable items, collectively shape a greener environment. This conscious living aligns with global objectives, including the Sustainable Development Goals, urging us to foster a planet fit for future generations.
SENG, Keoraksmey, MPP Spring 2023, who was awarded as the green campus leader from the 2023 KDIS Students' Choice Award, embodies the student-driven ethos at KDI School.
Their efforts have notably reduced plastic consumption by advocating the use of tumblers and reusable bags. The community actively embraces eco-friendly modes of commuting, opting for biking, hiking, or public transit. Additionally, energy conservation practices like switching off lights exemplify our collective dedication. The vision extends further, aspiring to incorporate the 5Rs methodology—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle—into our campus fabric, fostering an enduring green environment.
Moreover, student clubs and forums serve as catalysts for promoting green campus practices at KDI. Their initiatives span from awareness campaigns to practical implementations, emphasizing the reduction of plastic, energy, and food waste. These efforts aim to instill an environmental consciousness, fostering behavioral shifts among students and members.
Notably, seven exceptional teams, including the Badminton Club, Hiking Club, and Table Tennis Club, among others, showcase exemplary commitment. The Table Tennis Club, for instance, engages in activities like plogging and the clean plate challenge, actively contributing to greenhouse gas reduction and the pursuit of Net Zero 2050 objectives.
In essence, the passion and dedication exhibited by individuals like Raksmey and collective efforts within clubs and forums epitomize our campus's journey towards sustainability. These endeavors not only shape a greener present but also instill a lasting environmental consciousness. The recognition received fuels enthusiasm, fostering a legacy of environmental sensitivity among present and returning students, creating a ripple effect for a more sustainable future.
