Professor Yeong Jae Kim attended the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) 2024 Annual Conference in Leuven, Belgium, from July 1-4, supported by KDI School's funding. He gave a talk on the effect of Russia–Ukraine War on energy transtion in Germany and Italy, in collaboration with Prof. Seong-Hoon Cho and Kyeonggi Min (former KDIS graduate). The study explores the repercussions of the conflict on the European Union’s (EU) initial energy transition goals, with a keen focus on electricity generation in two countries. This research paper has also been invited for presentation at the International Energy Workshop (IEW) in Bonn, Germany, on June 26.

He also reunited with several RFF-CMCC EIEE researchers at both conferences. It was an excellent opportunity to reconnect with old colleagues and rekindle relationships after about two years at KDI School.
