[NOTICE]Request for Arranging a Thesis Supervisor

Students who wish to write a thesis should first discuss potential topics with an appropriate advisor, then submit a ''Request for Arranging a Thesis Supervisor'' to me by Friday, October 7, 2005, and a ''Proposal for Thesis'' by October 26, 2005.


1. Due Date: ''Request for Arranging a Thesis Supervisor'' Oct. 4 ~ Oct. 7, 2005 (Fall Term)

■ ~October 7, 2005: Submit a''Request for Arranging a Thesis Supervisor''
■ ~October 26, 2005: Submit a''Proposal for Thesis'' under the supervision of your Thesis Supervisor
■ First Week of Summer and Fall Term, 2006:
Upon completing your thesis, you must submit five copies of the thesis along with a ''Recommendation from the Thesis Supervisor for Thesis Evaluation''

- May 19(Fri), 2006: Deadline for Submission of Master''s Degree
Thesis (First Round)
* If your thesis is approved by the thesis review committee, you will be eligible to graduate on August. 31, 2006.
- Sep. 15(Fri), 2006: Deadline for Submission of Master''s Degree Thesis (First Round)
* If your thesis is approved by the thesis review committee, you will be eligible to graducate on Dec. 15, 2006.


2. To be eligible to write a thesis, you must have:

- Completed 3 terms and 30 credit hours
(Completed all core courses, Completed at least 9 credites of coursework within his/her concentration)
- Completed Korean language course I (only for International Students)
- Completed English language course I, II and III, or Granted a waver from these courses
- a grade point average equal to or higher than a B-(2.67)


3. Steps for Writing and Submitting a Thesis

1) Submit a ''Request for Arranging a Thesis Supervisor'' in the term you require for declaring concentration(s).
2) If you want to change a thesis supervisor for any reason, you must submit a ''Request for Changing a Thesis Supervisor'', and also get approval from the Dean
3) Submit a''Proposal for Thesis'' under the supervision of your Thesis Supervisor.
4) Students get advised for a certain period of time (1 term recommended) on their thesis by their thesis supervisor.
5) The format of the thesis must conform to the ''Guide to Writing a Thesis''.
6) Upon completing your thesis, you must submit five copies of the thesis along with a ''Recommendation from the Thesis Supervisor for Thesis Evaluation'' to the office of academic and student affairs.
7) The thesis supervisor recommends Thesis Evaluation Committee members with the approval of the Dean and therefore constitutes Thesis Evaluation Committee with more than three members by four weeks before the evaluation period begins.
8) The thesis supervisor becomes the chairperson of the Thesis Evaluation Committee and proceeds with the evaluation.
9) The decision of the Thesis Evaluation Committee is reached with the agreement of more than two thirds of the Committee members.
10) The thesis supervisor submits ''Evaluation of the Thesis'' within one week of the end of the evaluation period.
11) Getting the feedback from the thesis evaluation committe, students must revise their thesis and submit it with the signature of their supervisor by four weeks.
