Course Registration for 2007 Spring Semester

Dear Students,
I would like to inform you that there will be a course registration period for year 2007 Spring Semester from Feb. 1.

Please see below for details and refer to the attached the files

about 2007 Spring Semester.

1. Registration Period: Feb. 1(Thu.) 15:00 ~ Feb. 3(Sat., 23:00)

** ''First-Come, First-Served'' principle will be applied to course registration.

** However, the Evening MBA students will be given first priority to register for the Evening MBA courses during the first day of the course registration period. Other students, MPP, daytime MBA, and MFDI students, can only register for these courses starting from the second day of the course registration period. (Feb. 2, 15:00).

** MAM courses will also be opened to MBA and MFDI students. However, first priority for course registration will be given to MAM students. MAM courses will be opened to MBA, MFDI students on Friday, 6:00p.m.


2. Course Add and Drop Period: Feb. 5(Mon.), 10:00 ~ Feb. 10(Sat.), 23:00

* Please be informed that there is a limitation on the number of students in each class in order to maximize the quality of learning.

5.Guide to Course Registration for Master’s First Year Students

① Every student must register for each core course from his/her Program.

- Marketing Management and Financial Accounting are not core courses. However First year MBA students are highly encouraged to take this course. This course will be divided into 2 sections: one will be offered at day hours, and the other in the evening hours.

② English for Global Studies and Practice Courses

- All students must complete English Level 1, 2, and 3, unless they are waived. You must register for the English course according to the level at which you will be placed following the results of the English Placement test. (The results of the English Placement will be announced on the KDI School’s Notice Board after the test.)

- English Level 3 courses for evening MBA, MFDI, and MAM students will be offered from this summer session.

③ Korean Language and Culture
- All international students must take Korean Language and Culture I in the Spring Term. Students who want to be waived from Korean Language and Culture I are requested to apply to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs during the Course Add and Drop period (Feb. 5~Feb 10). The staff in charge of these affairs is Mr. Sung-Youl Lee.

④ Information Technology for Global Studies and Practice Course

There will be one sections of this course in the Spring Term. This course will be offered on Monday evening from Feb. 12.

6. Course Information


MPP Core Courses


1) Analysis of Market and Public Policy

- This course will be offered in the Spring Term.

- This course will be divided into 3 sections, each of which will be completely the same as the other two sections in terms of contents to be taught.

- All MPP students must take either section 1, 2 or 3 of this course during the registration period.

2) Quantitative Methods

- This course will be offered in the Spring Term.

- All MPP students are required to take either section 1, 2, 3 or 4 of Quantitative Methods.


MBA Core Courses

1) “Accounting and Finance” or “Financial Management”

- These courses will be offered in the Spring Term.

- All MBA students must take either “Accounting and Finance” or “Financial Management” course.

- Each course will be divided into 2 sections: Section 1 will be offered in the day hours, and section 2 in the evening hours.

* Marketing Management and Financial Accounting

- Marketing Management and Financial Accounting are not a core courses. However, first year MBA students are highly encouraged to take these classes.

- This course will be divided into 2 sections: one will be offered at day hours, and the other in the evening hours.


MFDI Core Courses

1) Understanding Foreign Direct Investment

- This course will be offered in the Spring Term. All MFDI students must take this course.

2) Financial Analysis and Management

- This course will be offered in the Spring Term. All MFDI students must take this course.


MAM Core Courses

1) Financial Instruments and Markets

- This course will be offered in the Spring Term. All MAM students must take this course.

2) Introduction to Invest Management

- This course will be offered in the Spring Term. All MAM students must take this course.


Foundation Skills Courses

1) English for Global Studies and Practice

- Every student must pass EnglishⅠ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ(Public Speaking and Presentation/International Business Communication) in order to graduate from the school unless you are waived from taking English courses.

- English levels are as follows:

Level I: Start from English I

Level II: Start from English II. Waived from English I

Level III: Start from English III. Waived from English I and II

Waiver: Waived from English I, II and III

- Level III will be provided in the Spring and Summer Term, those students who are assigned to Level III may take the course in the Spring or Summer Term. Students who were placed in the Level III must take “Public Speaking and Presentation/International Business Communication” course.


** Level I: English for Global Studies and Practice I (Sec.1/Sec.2)

Level II: English for Global Studies and Practice II (Sec.1/Sec.2/Sec.3/Sec.4)

Level III: Public Speaking and Presentation/International Business Communication (Sec.1/Sec.2)


2) Korean Language and Culture

- This course is specifically intended for international students. You will learn Korean culture and customs, as well as the Korean language.

- Korean Language and Culture I, II, and III are offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall Term with 3 credit hours for each course.

- All international students must take Korean Language and Culture I in the Spring Term. Students who wish to be waived from Korean Language and Culture I are requested to apply to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs during course add and drop period (Feb. 5~Feb. 10). (Please contact Mr. Sung-Youl Lee in regards to this matter.)


3) Chinese for Global Studies and Practice


- Key features of Chinese for Global Studies and Practice

* Focus on everyday, practical Chinese

* Specifically designed to develop speaking and expression skills

* 3 levels for one year

Spring Term: Level I (beginner)

Summer Term: Level II (intermediate)

Fall Term: Level III (advanced)


4) Information Technology for Global Studies and Practice:

- This course will be offered on Monday evening from Feb. 12.


7 . Supervised Research Course (SRC)

Students who are planning to take Supervised Research Course(s) in the Spring Semester are requested to 1) register for the SRC through the KDI School web site as well as 2) to submit an application form, with the course supervisor and program chair''s signature, as well as a specific proposal for supervised research to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs.

- Application Period

1) First Round: Feb. 1( Thu.) ~ Feb. 3 (Sat.)

2) Second Round: Feb. 5 (Mon.) ~ Feb. 10 (Sat.)
