[For part-time students] 2011 Winter Preliminary Session Schedule & Course Registration

Dear part-time students of 2011,

 

We are pleased that you have chosen the KDI School of Public Policy and Management for your graduate work.

In order to help you successfully prepare for the 2011 academic year, we plan to provide you with English language course during the Preliminary Session, which begins January 5th and ends on January 29th.

 

□ Preliminary Session Introduction

During the preliminary session “Language in Public Policy and Management (LPM)”, an English language course will be provided. All students are required to participate in the preliminary session and take one section of LPM courses. Those students who are unable to participate in the preliminary session have to take LPM course during the spring semester.

 

LPM course is a 3-credit mandatory English course that counts for your graduation requirement. English test will be given at the first class on Jan. 5 (Wed). Based on the test scores, students can be waived from the basic level course.

 

* LPM courses will be offered in the spring semester for international students, who arrive in Korea after the preliminary session.

 

* Those students who are unable to participate in the Preliminary Session have to let me know ly via e-mail (bklee@kdischool.ac.kr).

□ Preliminary Course Schedule:

* Please refer to the attached file, "2011 Preliminary Session Schedule."

 

 Course Registration Period: 10:00 ~ 22:00, December 30(Thu) ~ 31(Fri)

 

Ø How to register for the courses:

       Go to the "KDI School Website" http://www.kdischool.ac.kr.

       Click “Course Registration (Preliminary Session).” 

       Input your ID number in the Login ID box.

       Input your resident registration number in the password box (13 digits, ex: 8011111123456). For international students, please input your date of birth (8 digits, yyyymmdd).

       Click the "OK" button.

       Check the Add box for the courses you will register for.

       When you check the course you want to enroll in, click the "Submit" button.

 

□ Preliminary Session Orientation & Placement Test (Part-time students)

□ English Test

- English test, which will last for two hours, consists of three components: reading, listening and writing.

 

  Attendance Policy

All students who take the Preliminary courses must attend at least five sixths (5/6) of all classes in a given term to receive credits and grades for their course. During the preliminary session 2 absences will be allowed. If you are absent more than 3 times from your class, you will fail in the course. There is no course retaking chance in KDI School. When you are absent more than 3 times, you have to drop or withdraw the course.

 

Course Drop Period: Jan. 10 (Wed) ~ Jan. 14 (Fri)

If you want to drop the course, you need to fill out the course drop application form and submit it to the Academic Affairs Division (Room.8215). In this case, the course drop will not appear on the official transcript.

 

Course Withdrawal Period: Jan.17 (Mon) ~ Jan. 21 (Fri)

If you want to withdraw the course after the course drop period, you need to fill out the course withdrawal application form and submit it to the Academic Affairs Division (Room.8215).

In this case, a "W" will appear on the official transcript. However, it will not affect your GPA.
