Preliminary Session 2009 for Evening MBA, MFDI, MAM Students

2009 Evening MBA, MFDI, MAM Students,  We are pleased that you have chosen the KDI School of Public Policy and Management for your
graduate work.
In order that we help you prepare for the 2009 academic year successfully, we plan to provide you with
two courses during the Preliminary January Session, which begins January 5th and ends on February
7th.
Please refer to the following detailed information.
  □ Preliminary Course Schedule:  * I have attached the file "2009 Preliminary Session Schedule" □ Preliminary Session Orientation &Test:  -Jan. 5 (Mon.)/ 19:00~/ Lincoln Hall (7th Floor) *Schedule 19:00~19:30 Orientation for Preliminary Session 19:30~21:30 English Placement Test 21:30~22:30 Major-based Test (Multiple Choice/ 20 Questions)   □ Course Registration Period: - Dec. 31, 2008 (Wednesday) 10:00 A.M. ~ Jan. 3, 2009 (Saturday) 18:00 P.M.  □ Attendance Policy: All students who take the Preliminary courses must attend at least five sixths (5/6) of all classes in
a given term to receive credit for their course.

ever studied Accounting, you don’t have to take this course.

*Please refer to “2009 Preliminary Session Schedule". => Registration Period: Dec. 31, 2008(Wednesday) 10:00 A.M.~Jan. 3, 2009(Saturday) 18:00 P.M.    2. English Courses (3 credits): Based on an English Placement Test, students will be placed into
their English levels: basic, advanced or waived The English Courses which will be offered in Preliminary
Session will be counted for graduation requirement credits.

* If the placement test shows that your English skills are proficient enough to take graduate courses,
you do not need to take the Language in Public Policy and Management course.  In which case you
may plan to take advanced English courses (Academic writings, business communications,
presentation skills, professional writing) which are offered in spring or in summer. If, on the other hand,
you take the Language in Public Policy and Management in the January Session, you will earn 3 regular
credits which are counted toward your graduation requirements.
  => Registration Period: To be announced later (After English Placement Test)   3. The English Placement Test - The placement test, which last for two hours, consists of three components: Reading, Listening and
Writing.
  4.   Major-based Test - To assess the basic finance knowledge of MBA students, you will be provided
with 20 simple questions upon the completion of the English placement test. The purpose of this
financial knowledge test is not to evaluate your academic performance but to use the results as
educational purposes.
  Ø How to register for the courses: ①     Please activate "Internet Explorer" and get into the "KDI School Website"
  http://www.kdischool.ac.kr. ②     Please click the “Course Registration (Preliminary Session).” ③     Please input your ID number in the Login ID box. ④     Please input your resident registration number in the Password box
  (13 digits, ex: 8011111123567).
  In the case of international students, please input your date of birth (8 digits, yyyymmdd). ⑤     Please click the "OK"button. ⑥     Please check the Add box on the courses you want to register. ⑦     If you are a MAM or MFDI student, please click section 2 of course, “Accounting” If you are an E-MBA student, please click section 3 of course, “Accounting” ⑧     When you check all the courses you want to enroll, please click the "Submit" button.   * The students who are unable to participate in the English Placement Test or in the Preliminary 
Session must let me know ly via e-mail (sylee@kdischool.ac.kr).
