Over the past several decades, China has experienced rapid and sustained growth, managing to maintain a relatively high level of growth during the recent global crisis triggered by the financial woes in Europe and the US.  But challenges remain in China, both from abroad and at home, particularly at a time of great global economic uncertainty and growing concerns of fiscal sustainability in western countries. In China, the government has played a critical role in managing its economic development, a role that will likely continue in the future.  The challenge for China will be to ensure broad-based economic and social transformation, ensuring that the fruits of its rapid growth are broad-based.

With this in mind, KDIS(Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management), CAG(Chinese Academy of Governance), and WB (World Bank) propose to organize a forum of leading experts and Chinese senior government officials aimed at not only better understanding the issues and challenges faced by China but also presenting the set of policy tools available to decision-makers in various sectors of government. The themes explored during the course of high-level policy forum will be based on research and country case studies and will be tailored to address the leading issues and challenges in China.
