Internship Opportunity Announcement: KDIS-SAIS Forum on Development and Transition Economies

Dear Students,

The Capacity Building Team of KDI School is looking for talented research interns for the 1st KDI School-U.S Korea Institute at SAIS, Johns Hopkins University Forum on Development and Transition Economies. It is a superb opportunity for those of you who want to learn and study the topics of transition issues. The forum will examine experiences of transition economies and draw general lessons for economies that will experience social and economic transition in future.

 

 All applicants are required to participate in both Term1&2 accordingly.

Job Descriptions & Internship Program Structure

# Opening: 3 internship positions

# Duties:

1.      Term 1: 2012. 5. 1 ? 7. 27(62 working days, 13 weeks)
1) Major duties:
- to gather and manage data on selected topic(see the attached ‘internship application form’ for checking three topics)
- to assist professors in charge on selected topics

2.      Term 2: 2012. 7. 29 ? 9. 15(7 weeks, changeable according to the academic schedule)
1) Major duties(tentative):
- to assist on-going research projects of the U.S Korea Institute(located in Washington D.C., USA)
- to take part in publication projects of the U.S Korea Institute

Eligibility Requirements

1.      KDI School student

2.      Fluency in English (TOEFL or IELTS scores needed)

3.      Interest in overall transition issues, especially North Korean issues

4.      Preference is placed on students who are from countries facing economic transition such as China, Viet Nam, etc.

5.      Candidates must agree to and be eligible for extended stay in the USA.

 

Benefits

1.      Participants will be provided with financial support for job assignment of Term 1 (5,000won/hr for M.A. student, 8,000won/hr for Ph.D student, 5-15 hours per week)

2.      Precise amount of financial support for job assignment of Term 2(Internship at the U.S Korea Institute) is yet to be determined but KDI School will provide round-trip flight tickets as well as allowances ($500/week).
