As Director of Impact Assessment, Partnerships and RAPID, John heads up the RAPID Programme and also works across the Institute on monitoring and evaluation and strategic partnerships.

ODI - Providing research-based evidence for better development policy and practice

The Overseas Development Institute claims to be Britain’s leading independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues, inspiring and informing pro-poor development policy and practice by locking together high quality applied research, practical policy advice, and policy-focused dissemination and debate. In this talk John Young will describe some of the results of 10 years work by ODI’s Research and Policy in Development (RAPID) Programme, including the key lessons about why research sometimes does and sometimes doesn’t influence policy and practice, some of the tools that can be used to increase, and assess the impact of research, and what ODI has done over the last few years to improve its own impact.
