Dear Korean Students and International Students,

The fall semester has begun and it is already the first week. We hope that everyone is doing a great job keeping up the good work at school so far.

As you all know, September 7 to September 10 is Chusok holidays (Chusok falls on August 15 by the lunar calendar). Similar to Thanksgiving, this is one of the most important holidays in Korea. Families come together to celebrate the harvest season, and hold memorial services at ancestors’ graves.

In the meantime we have some announcements to make regarding Chusok.

1.    The School will distribute small gifts for Chusok

The KDI School would like to offer Korean traditional food and drinks: Tteok (rice cake) and Sikhye (sweet rice drink) to celebrate this holiday together. For those living in the school dorm, please pick it up from your Dormitory assistant(DA), and for those NOT living in the school dormitory, please VISIT student affairs office and grab a taste of Korea from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sep. 5th (Fri).

2.    Cafeteria information

During the holiday season, KAIST cafeteria (including Atrium) will be closed from Sep. 7th to Sep 10th. Since most of the restaurants near KDI School and Kyung-Hee University are closed during the holidays, particularly on the Chusok day, it is recommended that you shop for food in advance or go to downtown area for dining.

3.    No class (From September 10 to 12)

There would be no class from September 10th (Wed) to 12th (Fri). Please note, however, that this break is still a part of the official semester period; the school does not allow a temporary leave during the semester except when it''s urgent and unavoidable.
