Dear Partners in Korea,

We are pleased to invite you to the webinar to discuss the Bank’s African Economic Outlook (AEO) 2021 with Asian audiences. The Asia External Representation Office and Macroeconomic Policy, Forecasting & Research Department of the African Development Bank will host this significant event on May 20th, 2021, at 5:00-7:00 pm (Seoul time).

The theme of the 2021 AEO is “From Debt Resolution to Growth: The Road Ahead for Africa.” The report consists of 3 parts. Chapter 1 introduces Africa’s growth performance and the effects of the COVID-19 on extreme poverty and human capital. Chapter 2 analyzes the causes and consequences of Africa’s debt dynamics. Chapter 3 proposes policy options to improve the process of debt resolution and governance and to ultimately realize sustainable growth in Africa.

This is the second AEO’s event targeting Asian audiences, following the successful implementation of the previous event held last year with around 350 participants. This webinar aims to deepen further understanding of Africa's latest developments and economic trends, promote dialogue and collaboration between the Bank’s specialists and Asian scholars to realize sustainable growth in Africa. The webinar will provide a great opportunity for participants to discuss the findings of the report with a wide range of Asian stakeholders, including policymakers, diplomats, academics, think tanks, regional development organizations, civil society, students, journalists, and the general public.
