Dear members of KDI School,

South Korea recorded over 1,200 new COVID-19 cases yesterday,

marking the second-highest tally since last December when the country faced third wave of the pandemic.

The government will review imposing the strongest social distancing level if the virus situation remains on its current course for the next two or three days, raising concerns that this could be the entry stage to the fourth wave of the pandemic in South Korea.

Most notably, the more highly transmissible Delta variant is being detected in more cases in the greater Seoul metropolitan area, but infections have also been appearing in other major areas, including Busan, Daejeon, and Daegu.

There are concerns that the virus could spread further due to increased travel during the summer holiday season.

So although some restrictions on private gatherings have recently been eased, we strongly urge all students to comply with prevention measures to deter the spread of COVID-19, including continuing to wear masks at all times, refraining from private gatherings, following social distancing guidelines, and washing hands and common areas frequently.

Thanks to the continuing efforts of all members of the KDI School, there have been no confirmed cases related to the school fortunately.

For this, we appreciate your cooperation in complying with the prevention rules and ensuring the safety of our community.

Thank you all for your active participation, cooperation, and understanding!
