It is unlikely that they would be admitted. The only thing that might help them is if they have extremely high grades (say, over  a 3.75 equivalent to the US, which is about a 4.0 in Korea) and they take the GRE and record a really strong score on that. We require a minimum of a 150, so I would say that someone with a 77/78 TOEFL would need something like a 160 or maybe even a 170 on the GRE.  So, like I indicated, it is very unlikely that someone with those TOEFL scores would be admitted.

In terms of the time schedule of courses, most of our courses are offered in the late afternoon and evening. We have some that start at 3:30/4 p.m. and then again around 6/6:30.

We also have a few weekend “intensives”where a class meets Friday evening from roughly 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and then from 8-5 on Saturday and 8-3 on Sunday. This may vary depending on how many weekends a class meets. Classes meet for anywhere from 2-4 weekends under this format. During the Winterim and Maymester terms (terms in January and May- before and after the spring semesters, we might have one or maybe two classes- usually an elective or a Criminal Justice course) that meet every day for about 3 hours for 2-3 weeks. During the regular semesters at most one or two classes are during the day.

We do have an Accelerated Masters Degree Program (AMPA) where all the classes meet during the day. This is a special program that is a cohort based program (around 25- 30 students). Students take 3 courses every 8 weeks in the fall and spring semesters. During the Summer they do their capstone. The program takes one year. We have not had any KDI students enroll in this program in the past so I don’t know how the class waiver thing would work. We usually have about 5 Korean students from sponsored by MOPAS in this program each year.  The AMPA program also requires a TOEFL minimum score of 80, and in fact, we would prefer a score closer to 90 or higher.

Let me know if you have any questions after reading these three emails.

Thank you
