The KDI School of Public Policy and Management is a graduate school of policy studies founded in 1997 with the support of the Korean government and is the educational arm of the KDI, the nation’s most respected economic think tank. KDI has consistently contributed to the government’s policy making and implementation, and based on KDI’s four decade long research and development consulting experience, our school has been educating public officials and private sector managers from around the globe by providing strategic tools to deal with the growing complexities of the modern world.
 
As part of the government’s policy, the KDI School relocated its campus to Sejong City, the new administrative center. Job Description

Overall responsibilities include teaching graduate-level English courses; advising and supervising students; developing course materials; contributing to the program and departmental activities.
 
Courses are as follows:

- Language in Public Policy and Management: This is an introductory English course for all KDIS students, the main thrust of which is to enhance their English skills with a particular emphasis on reading, comprehension, writing, and speaking. Instructors are to focus on developing these key skills by utilizing the course book, which is a compilation of short passages or essays from various fields.
 
- Academic Writing: The main objective of this course is to introduce graduate students to the practices of research-based writing for academic audiences. As the students generally are those who are working on their own graduate course papers, are conducting research, and/ or are writing theses, instructors should equip them to operate as caliber writers.
 
- The Art of Communication in Public Policy (tentative title): This course is to develop students’ public oratory skills. In particular, this course should put strong emphasis on basic principles and strategies of informative and persuasive speaking. Instructors should help students speak with eloquence and employ key elements of communication through critical thinking, public speaking, debating and presentations.
 
Instructors are also responsible for maintaining professional competence, for developing a positive and active learning environment in the classroom for students, for participating in departmental and campus-wide activities, and for delivering and assessing established program competencies and outcomes. To accomplish this goal, the instructor must utilize his/her talents, skills, and abilities in a coordinated and consistent team effort.
 
Qualifications

(1) Ph.D. or Master Degree in English, TESOL, Education, Philosophy, or the Social Sciences with a minimum of two years of experience at an accredited college or university.
(2) The job applicant should be interested in teaching a culturally diverse group of international students, especially from the developing nations.
