2017 Korea Field Research and Study

We would like to invite all members of the KDI School to the 2017 Korea Field Research and Study (KFRS), which takes place from Tuesday, August 1 to Friday, August 4.

This 4-day field trip will be a good opportunity to witness the past and present of Korean development. By visiting industrial manufacturing sites such as POSCO and also Gyungsang-bukdo Provincial Government, you will see what laid the foundations of the current Korean economy. Besides, we will get to visit Gyeongju city, the capital of the Shilla dynasty, and look around some historical sites which are rich in cultural heritage.

Though KFRS is designed for international students to improve their understanding about diverse aspects of Korea, Korean students are also strongly recommended and welcomed to join in.

This field trip offers 1 credit as a field research course. Participants can obtain 1 credit upon submission of a KFRS report. This credit will be shown on your official transcript under the fall term, but will not count towards the graduation requirements.

Please note that only a limited number of students can participate in this tour. And once you apply for it, you will be on the waiting list and the school will approve your status. The application will be processed on a first-come-first served basis, so apply soon so that you can enjoy 2017 KFRS.

<2017 Korea Field Research and Study Schedule>
Ø  Date: Aug. 1 (Tue.) ~ Aug. 4 (Fri.) — four days and three nights
Ø  Application period: June 26 (Mon.), 12:00 AM ~ June 30 (Fri.)
Ø  Participation Fee: KRW 100,000
   (Total fee is around KRW 700,000, however other expenses such as accommodation, meals, and transportation will be covered by the school.)
Ø  Accommodation: Gyeongju Hyundai Hotel (5 Star-Hotel)

<Penalty>
Please note that once your application is submitted, you will be charged a penalty of 50,000 KRW if you don’t show up on the day unless you send us an email notice by July 21th. (If you cancel your application on the 'Event Application Result' Section of MIS before July 21, there will be no penalty.)

① Visit "www.kdischool.ac.kr"
② Log in using your ID and Password
③ Click the “MIS” on the right hand side of KDI School Service menu
④ In the menu bar on the left, click “Apply for Events” under “Training/Event”
⑤ Click the “Query” button
⑥ Click the “2017 Korea Field Research and Study"
⑦ Check your Food Menu and Click “Save”
⑧ Please check your status to see if you're enrolled, cancelled, or waiting in the 'Event application Result' section. (If someone cancels it, the first person on the waiting list will take the place.)

<How to pay the participation fee>

Ø   Participation Fee: 100,000 KRW

Ø   If you receive a monthly stipend from the school, the participation fee will be deducted from your September stipend.
Ø   Those who are not getting a stipend or 2016 Fall students who are supposed to leave this summer, please transfer the participation fee of KRW 100,000 to the bank account below by July 21th (Friday) Woori bank 1005-300-972508 .

Ø  For KOICA, KOICA-MDI, IDB students, the scholarship sponser will cover whole payment.
