The KDIS South Asia Forum has pleased to organize an event of special lecture on Saemaul Undong in Nepal presented by the Professor Mr. Navaraj Panta on Oct 6, 2016. He is a full time professor at Gimcheon University and has a long track of service in the field of NGO, Social work, and volunteer service. He has got a South Korean Presidential Award in 2013 owing to his 10 years long volunteer services on Nepal Saemaul Undong Centre.

The lecture presented the current implementation status of the Saemaul Undong Movement in Nepal. It mentioned about the objectives and four dimensions of the movement in Nepal. The strategy and timeline to implement different programmes under the movement were shared with the audience. The most astonishing facts of the implementation system highlighted by the presenter were the community involvement through villagers meeting as well as mid-term evaluation by the Government of Nepal. Further, the presenter highlighted the major problems faced the country. The lecture was ended with the slogan of “We will do, We can do, We must do”.

During the discussion session participants contributed enthusiastically and compared their own countries’ situation with that of Nepal in the same context.

The KDIS South Asia Forum is thankful to KDIS Students’ Affairs and all participants who made this event successful.
