The KDIS Latin American and the Caribbean Forum (LAC) of the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, is an academic community represented by students from various countries of the region, who discuss and share experiences of economic, social and cultural development. Our events this semester included:

1. Jointly hosting a movie night with the Movie Club. A survey featuring several movies of Latin American and Caribbean origin was posted on one of the KDI students’ social media pages. Embrace of the Serpent (El Abrazo De La Serpiente) received the most votes and was thus the film featured at the event. It is an award-winning film which depicts the effect of colonialism on Colombia's indigenous society.
2. The Nicaraguan Ambassador to Korea, Edgardo Cuarezma gave a presentation about the Nicaraguan-Korean experience regarding economic cooperation. The presentation was not limited to Nicaraguan-Korean relations, as the Ambassador expanded on his topic and fielded questions from students to speak about the Latin American and Caribbean region as a whole.
3. The Cultural Event was hosted as a way to create better awareness and understanding within the KDI community of the many countries, peoples and cultures that make up the Latin American and Caribbean region. Several LAC Forum members gave brief presentations about the cultural aspects of their countries. Some individuals prepared traditional dishes from their countries and a few showed their cultural dances.

In addition to the events organized by the LAC Forum, several of our students also participated in different activities organized by KDI, including the KDIS International Food Festival and a joint volunteer program between KDIS and Sejong City, to display their countries and cultures.
