The United Nations offices in the Republic of Korea (UNDP, UNESCAP, UNHCR, UNICEF, OHCHR, WFP and UNGC) are organizing the “Olympic Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Talk Concert,” to be held on Tuesday, 6 February 2018 from 3 to 5 pm in Seoul. The Talk Concert is a joint effort of the UN offices in Korea, the PyeongChang Organising Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea.

The Talk Concert is a two-hour event aiming to capitalize on the Olympian spirit of sport as a tool for dialogue, cooperation and peace. The event targets the young Korean public to increase their awareness of the interconnectedness of sustainable development and peace in the region and beyond. With an inspiring choreography, it brings together international and Korean personalities such as a South Sudanese refugee runner, a triple Olympic speed skating champion, a world-ranked hearing-impaired tennis player, a celebrity chef, and private sector representatives under an overarching theme of sports, SDGs and Olympic sustainability. Several private sector partners (e.g. KT, Samsung, Coca Cola) have also signed on as sponsors for the event and we expect an audience of around 200 Korean youth, coupled with wide media coverage via the Olympic accredited press corps and the UN and sponsor media and social media networks.
