1. J비자 F비자 차이가 무엇인가?

- 미국 비자법 상, 50% 이상의 지원을 받는 학생들은 J비자, self-funded 인 학생들은 F 비자를 받는다.

- 작은 학교들의 경우는 모든학생들에게 F 를 주는 경우도 있지만, 원칙적으로는 GMP 학생들은 J를 받는것이 맞다.

- 보험료가 일부 차이가 나기는 한 것으로 알고 있고. F로 희망할 경우 소속 기관에서 허락공문을 받아오면 F로 지원해 주고자 한다.

 

2. 여권 이름 변경하면 어드미션에 문제가 있을지?

- 여권이름, 여권 등 알려주면 별 문제없이 변경 가능하다.

 

3. 21세 이상의 자녀는 F2 혹은 J2 를 받을 수 없는 것으로 알고 있는데, 독립비자를 위한 수학 기관을 추천해 줄 수 있는지?

- UCSD에도 부설기관이나 ESL코스가 있으나 비싼편이고

- 주변 컬리지 과정 등 소개해 줄 수 있다. 개별 연락 달라.

 

4. proffessional Trip 필참인지?

- 그렇다. 아이들 방학기간등 고려하여 과정 운영하니 필참해달라.

* 참고) 최초 KDIS-UCSD 과정 설계할때, 학생들의 요청으로 해당 트립을 필참으로 넣었습니다. 그리고 등록금에 트립 비용까지 함께 묶어서 청구하면,

         소속기관으로부터 등록금 및 트립 참가비 지원 받기가 수월하다 하셔서, 논의 후에 우리학생분들을 위하여 특별히 규정화하여 필참으로 연결했습니다.

        다만, 현재는 등록금이 이미  소속기관 상한액을 넘어서고 있어 개인 비용 부담이 부득이 한 바,

        참석/불참 으로 옵션화 하여 재 구성하자고 논의 하고 있으나, 여러 행정처리로 아직까지는 필참 형태로 유지되고 있습니다.

        지속 논의 하여 변경 사항 있을때는 말씀드리도록 하겠습니다.

 

5. ESL 수강 면제를 위한 영어점수 제출 마감은 언제인가?

- 합격 후 입학 전까지는 내야 한다.

 

6. 비학위과정 성적 시스템은?

- 기본적으로 Pass/non-Pass 시스템이고, 학생이 별도 요구할 경우 GPA(A,B,C)로도 표기하여 줄 수 있다.

 

7. 등록금은?

- 첨부파일 참조하며, 해당 금액은 추정치로 특히 책값같은 경우 더 줄어들 것이다.

 

8. 배우자들을 위한 과정이 있을지?

- GLI 학생의 배우자라면 1개 과목을 수강할 수 있다. 또한 별도의 ESL 과정도 있다.

 

9. 기타

It is true that health care is more expensive in the U.S. than many other countries, but it is my understanding that the sponsors/employers usually pay this for those attending GLI. A monthly rate for a family of four (primary, spouse, and two children) can cost $600-$700 dollars. The Financial Statement, signed by the sponsor/employer, accounts for this in the Living Expenses. We require all who study in GLI and their dependents to have adequate health coverage no matter if the visa is F or J as evidenced by the attached document stating GLI Health Insurance Requirements. The University does not endorse a specific insurance company; however, if someone would like to purchase insurance in the U.S., we have heard from previous GLI professionals that International Student Organization (ISO) provides good insurance at reasonable rates. Please note, that most U.S. insurance companies, including ISO, do not cover pre-existing conditions and they generally do not cover pregnancy, unless conception occurs after the insurance has been purchased.  Meaning that, if the person or spouse is currently pregnant and purchase insurance now, the insurance company will NOT cover pre-natal care, delivery or any other pregnancy-related care. However, we do know of one insurance company, Garnett-Powers and Associated, Inc.
