2024 KDIS Special Lecture #5 (June 3rd)

- Date: 2024. 6. 3.(Mon) 17:00~18:00 / Online (Zoom)

- Speaker: Edward Newman (Professor of International Security at the University of Leeds)

- Title: What do 'fuel riots' tell us about climate change action and the 'green transition'?

- Outline: This lecture will explore how policies designed to reduce carbon emissions – focusing in particular upon the implementation of fossil fuel subsidy reductions – may directly or indirectly contribute to societal instability by generating fuel insecurity and perceptions of unequal or unfair costs. This illustrates how justice and fairness are an important part of the 'green transition', which has implications for international climate change agreements.

* To secure your place, please RSVP by May 26th.
