2024 Korea Field Research and Study (KFRS) Program
KDI School is pleased to announce the 2024 Korea Field Research and Study (KFRS) program, scheduled from May 1st (Wednesday) to May 3rd (Friday), 2024.
☑ Program Overview
KFRS is a three-day field trip that offers a unique opportunity to witness the past and present development of Korea. Through visits to industrial manufacturing sites, participants will gain insights into the foundations of Korea's modern economy. Additionally, cultural heritage tours will allow for an immersive experience into Korea's rich historical legacy.
☑ Key Details
1. Dates: May 1 (Wed) - May 3 (Fri), 2024 / 2 Nights, 3 Days
2. Participation Fee: KRW 100,000 (Original cost approx. KRW 500,000; accommodation, meals, and transportation covered by KDIS)
3. Accommodation: Hotels in Gyeongju and Busan(double occupancy*) *Two people per room
4. Capacity: 80 participants (first-come, first-served basis)
☑ Eligibility & Priority
- Students who did not participate in the 2023 Fall or 2024 Spring KFRS programs will be given priority for registration.
- Remaining spots, if available, will be open to 2023 Spring KFRS participants.
☑ Application Process
- Period: April 8 (Mon), 2024, 00:00 - April 14 (Sun), 2024, 23:59
Access MIS (http://mis.kdischool.ac.kr) > Training/Event > Apply for Events > Select "Field Trip" for Event Type > Click "2024 Korea Field Research and Study" |
- Under "Food Menu," indicate any dietary restrictions (halal, vegetarian, etc.) and save.
- Those who fall under the categories of Sejong Global Leader, POSCO, or Exchange Students must pay the participation fee in order to complete their application. (Please refer to the following details.)
☑ Participation Fee Payment
- Monthly Stipend Recipients’ participation fee will be deducted from the stipend after KFRS.
* IBK Scholars: No deduction (supported by IBK)
- Non-Recipients(Sejong Global Leader, POSCO, Exchange Student): Transfer KRW 100,000 during the application period.

☑ Important Notes
- Academic priorities: Students are advised to prioritize their academic schedule and coursework over the event.
- Course Credit: 1 credit will be awarded for a Field Research course upon submission of a KFRS report (not counted towards graduation requirements).
- No-show Penalty: KRW 30,000 (No penalty if canceled through MIS before April 16)
