Summary of your project There are many indigenous knowledge systems around the world that have been developed over a long period by communities from their ancestry, not based on the medicines but aiming at the protection, prevention, and treatment of diseases, It has been in my mind for a long time to collect those knowledge systems and distribute them among all other nations. I think that the KDI alumni partnership that spread all over the world will be a good platform for this. It can be understood when examining and studying the old alumni participation programs where there are alumni who work in a rural environment.

Specific alumni in mind For instance, even though the Corona pandemic spread all over the world, some ethnic groups and some villages in Sri Lanka were spared from the Corona pandemic. After studying it in depth, we came to know that their food habits and behavior patterns are different from those of other villages. It was also clear that there are common characteristics of the villages that were spared from the Corona threat. We have also known that these villagers were used to treat many corona patients, and they had a low tendency to get infected, and whether they were affected, the damage was less to them. They have built up their immune system in their bodies to prevent such diseases through their food habits, regular mediation, and exercising patterns.
I have a large number of such examples, and I have no doubt that all of you have such accumulated knowledge systems. The Western medical associations and legal system in Sri Lanka have prevented doing research using patients to study such knowledge systems. It is a crime in the eyes of the law to conduct research on patients who are not Western medical professionals in Sri Lanka. Although there are very strong local doctors scattered all over my country, their research is the experience they have gained, and the professional competition and respect they keep around themselves and their families do not make it public. Western-educated doctors consider local medical scientific methods as myths and argue that they are not scientific. In such a background, if such knowledge is developed in an external environment or in a foreign environment, it will be of great benefit to the world.
Furthermore, developing countries around the world have naturally developed knowledge systems for disease prevention. By improving these, the world can develop effective disease prevention methods. There is a possibility of developing knowledge in countries where there is a background that cannot conduct research on these.
Specific nationality of the alumni in mind I also invite our KDI partners in countries rich in traditional and indigenous knowledge and our fellow partners in countries that seek the advancement of humanity and do not have strong research pressures. I seek a partnership where nationality is not a barrier to cooperation and where we can work together from start to finish.
Specific organization(s) / workplace(s) in mind I invite all those who are interested and willing to participate in this. Members of non-governmental or governmental organizations that work directly with the public are more suitable. I expect at least four people, including myself, to participate in the project, and I do not expect busy people who will be left behind in the middle.
Specific work position(s) in mind No. Anyone with the ability to acquire local and indigenous knowledge is eligible.

Objective of the Project To develop a database and report based on the exchange and integration of indigenous knowledge and domestic knowledge for the prevention and curation of diseases.
Expected Benefits from the Project To educate the world about the knowledge systems that different nations have developed to prevent disease and develop immunity.
To develop the scientific basis for dietary habits, exercise, and religious beliefs and myths.
To discuss the scientific basis for knowledge and beliefs about the dangers that may arise through animal behavior and environmental changes.
Anything you would like to inform the potential partner Let's work as a group. Let's discuss with people who have expertise in the various issues mentioned above in our countries. Let's inform the group with as much local knowledge as possible.
