Brief intro of project
A Deepened Analysis of Sexual Minorities' Rights in South Korea and Brazil - Brief intro of project Title A Deepened Analysis of Sexual Minorities' Rights in South Korea and Brazil Sustainable Development Goals 5. Gender Equality Timely Global Issues 2. Comparative Policy Analysis Gender and Equality Summary of your project This project aims to develop and expand on last year’s cross-cultural study of sexual minorities' experiences in South Korea and Brazil, with a focus on understanding and advancing ideas for sexual minorities' rights. The research will incorporate surveys, interviews, and observations to explore the challenges faced by sexual minorities, particularly the lack of social support, institutional frameworks, and media representation. By collecting both qualitative and quantitative data, the project seeks to identify patterns that will inform a theoretical framework for understanding the vulnerabilities of sexual minorities in these two culturally distinct contexts. Ultimately, the goal is to publish these findings in an academic journal, contributing to the broader conversation on improving the rights and social inclusion of sexual minorities. -

Details of Cooperation Project
A Deepened Analysis of Sexual Minorities' Rights in South Korea and Brazil - Details of Cooperation Project Objective of the Project This project aims to expand and deepen our previous cross-cultural comparison of the experiences of sexual minorities in South Korea and Brazil. Last year’s research highlighted the vulnerabilities faced by sexual minorities, particularly in South Korea, where the lack of social support and institutional frameworks leaves individuals more susceptible to discrimination and internalized hatred. Building on these findings, we intend to validate and refine our conclusions by utilizing a theoretical framework to structure the research. This year, our goal is to publish the revised study in a peer-reviewed academic journal to ensure the project’s contribution to global dialogue on sexual minorities’ rights. Expected Benefits from the Project This project will provide several benefits to both academic research and social advocacy:
1. Policy Impact: The findings will offer valuable insights for policymakers in South Korea, Brazil, and other countries, urging them to address the institutional gaps in supporting sexual minorities.
2. Academic Contribution: The study will contribute to the literature on cross-cultural sexual minorities’ rights, providing a comparative perspective between two countries with significant differences in social attitudes and legal frameworks.
3. Increased Awareness: By publishing the work, we aim to raise awareness of the challenges faced by sexual minorities, especially in societies where violence may be low, but institutional support remains inadequate.
4. Academic Networks: This project will strengthen academic and professional networks by collaborating with international organizations and institutions focused on human rights, fostering greater global solidarity for sexual minorities.Anything you would like to inform the potential partner We are committed to working on behalf of sexual minorities' rights, and we expect all partners to share this core mission. There is no doubt about our dedication to advancing these rights through research and advocacy.
Additionally, building on last year’s experience where we observed the Daejeon Queer Parade and compared it with Brazilian parades, we emphasize that this project will require practical participation, not just theoretical research. The study involves not only data collection and analysis but also active engagement in LGBTQIA+ events and dialogues, as we believe first-hand participation enriches our understanding of these communities.
