Transforming millennial Aztecs, Mayas and Incas Cities into Smart Cities! - Details of Cooperation Project Objective of the Project The SDG No. 11 claims to “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”. This goal might meet both ancient cities and new smart cities characteristics.
With this in common, it is not impossible to think about ancient cities evolving into smart cities that address modern urban challenges, including climate change, sustainability, and urban resilience. Nowadays, historic cities such as Rome, Athens, and Beijing have already started integrating smart technologies while preserving their cultural heritage.
Topics proposed to discuss in the project related to both ancient and smart cities are: efficiency, sustainability, connectivity, governance, resilience, and data-driven decision making.
Main objective: To discuss the opportunity of ancient cities to evolve into smart cities
