Tackling disinformation in the age of AI - Evidence from around the world - Brief intro of project Title Tackling disinformation in the age of AI - Evidence from around the world Sustainable Development Goals 16. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions Timely Global Issues 2. Comparative Policy Analysis Science and Technology Summary of your project This working group aims to explore the growing challenge of disinformation and misinformation in the era of artificial intelligence. With AI technologies increasingly capable of generating and amplifying false or misleading content, the spread of disinformation poses significant risks to societal trust, informed decision-making, and democratic processes globally.
In this working group, we would gather evidence and case studies from around the world, focusing on:
1. Understanding how AI-driven tools contribute to both the creation and detection of disinformation
2. Analysing the social, economic and political consequences of misinformation across various regions
3. Highlighting successful policies, interventions, and grassroots initiatives used to combat misinformation.
I hope we can use this working group to provide actionable recommendations to foster international collaboration and equip policymakers with evidence-based approaches to counter disinformation and promote ethical use of AI. Hence, I am looking for colleague alumni with experience and expertise in policymaking, research, education, and technology. -
